Olive Production in Mallorca...

The Serra de Tramuntana is a dramatic mountain range soaring nearly 5,000 feet (1,445 m) high, along 56 miles (90 km) of Mallorca's northwest coast.  Every year in November, millions of centuries old olive trees residing in these mountains are celebrated.  This is when the harvest takes place, and when the famous Caimari Olive Fair draws the attention of local people.  We will walk to the fair from our jaw-dropping hotel to learn about how olives are curated, and how they are turned into the most delicious, pure, cold pressed, extra virgin olive oil in the mediterranean.  A compliment to this natural spectacle are temperatures around 75 degrees (24 celsius), and a wonderful lack of tourism.

Villages You Will Explore...

This Getaway Is For You If...

Mother nature and her creations are irresistible to you.  Historic walks through the past awaken your curiosity.  You love dining alfresco.  Visiting local markets to taste everything in season rocks your socks.  Temperatures 60-75 fahrenheit or 15-24 celcius is your comfort zone.  You adore hiking and exploring.  An immersion into the production of olive oil sounds magical.  A barefoot walk on the beach feels like the most lavish experience.  You prefer to mingle with locals and immerse yourself in their way of life.  Traveling with an intimate group of like-minded women is your jam.  There will be a good amount of walking, so comfortable shoes and an appropriate level of fitness is required.

Your Hosts...

How often is it that you go on holiday with the founder of your chosen travel tribe?  The founder of Mallorca by Design, who has been a local resident for 8 years, will be joining every planned moment of this experience with you.  There are unplanned moments as well, giving guests the freedom to explore solo.  Laura has been hosting events and spending the shoulder seasons in Mallorca since 2010, then in 2018 she finally packed her bags and left New York City to live on an olive farm.  Her focus is always on the most unique experiences ... you’re in for an unforgettable adventure.

Join Us...

This Mallorca Getaway is limited to just 13 amazing women.  We have exclusive use of our very own hotel for six beautiful nights, in a local village at the foot of the Serra de Tramuntana.  We then visit the city of Palma for three spectacular nights in a sea front hotel in the coveted area of La Calatrava.  Everyone has their own room with private bath.  Rooms are first come, first served.  Join us as we share our stories, forge new friendships, and have an insane amount of outdoor fun to boot.

Day 1, Friday - November 12 - Binibona

Total Driving Time:  45 minutes

Arrival to Mallorca, Welcome Dinner...

Arrive to Mallorca, check in to your private accommodations, then enjoy a glass of Cava and unwind from your day of travel.  This gorgeous, hand selected hotel, surrounded by breathtaking views of the Tramuntana Mountains, will serve as our exclusive home for the next six days and nights ... we are the only guests.  For maximum comfort and enjoyment, each and every room has a private bath with separate shower and bathtub, a complimentary mini-bar, plush robes, and organic skin care products.  The pool with balinese beds awaits, massages and other spa treatments are available, and the hot tub and sauna garden is accepting complimentary reservations.  This little oasis is booked just one guest at a time ... indulge in a hot/cold therapy, and enjoy some solo time to clear your thoughts.  In the evening, the Mallorquin owners of the hotel welcome you with a tour of the grounds and historic tales of the property.  Dinner is served with a wine pairing, next to the medieval walls.

Day 2, Saturday - November 13 - Caimari / Lloseta

Total Driving Time:  20 minutes

Olive Fair, Sustainable Fashion...

Blissful stretch session to reduce jetlag, coffee and breakfast.  A relaxing morning is spent enjoying spa treatments, as well as solo time at the hot tub and sauna garden.  We then celebrate a tree that has thrived in Mallorca for more than 700 years ... the olive tree.  The village of Caimari makes a big effort to create a wonderful setting for the local, agricultural experience - The Caimari Olive Fair.  From our sweet hotel, we are able to walk a beautifully peaceful 5km road to reach this experience.  Taste olives and olive oil, try local delicacies (this is lunch), purchase authentic products such as olive leaf tea, hand-made olive wood bowls, flavored salts, pottery, clothing, jewelry and more.  Visit the olive mill where your host Laura produces her oil each year.  A driver then takes us to Lloseta, where we are introduced to RECLAIM ... a sustainable manufacturer who creates one of a kind bags from reclaimed textiles and old horse tack.  As our gift to you, each guest will design their very own "Petra" bag.  Back at our beautiful hotel, there is a bit of downtime before dinner is served on the terrace, overlooking the green valley.

Day 3, Sunday - November 14 - Lluc / Escorca

Total Driving Time:  1:15 hours

Ancient Monastery, Wine Tasting in the Mountains...

Blissful stretch in the chapel, coffee and breakfast.  Today begins with a visit to the Lluc Monastery.  Experience a beautiful hike in the white rock mountains, a garden full of history, the ancient church and children's choir.  Next we pay a visit to Mallorca's highest vineyards, located in the Tramuntana Mountains, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  Proximity to the sea and a 400m elevation helps to create a microclimate that produces wines of great freshness.  The wine tasting is enjoyed with a famous Mallorquín dish ... Pa amb Oli.  It is a magnificent combination of local country bread, extra virgin olive oil, ramallet tomatoes and salt, as well as cheese, ham, sausage, avocado ... any topping you like.  We then return to our beautiful hotel for a bit of down time before dinner is served.

Day 4, Monday - November 15 - Soller / Mountain Hike

Total Driving Time:  1:30 hours

Ancient Traditions, Secret Lunch...

Blissful stretch in the chapel, coffee and breakfast.  Today we visit Soller, a village surrounded by an amphitheater of imposing mountains.  We walk through the village, down the shopping street, and finally to a trail that leads us up the mountain.  After a slow paced, 90-minute ascent, we arrive to an experience you can only book if you know the owners.  Four generations of this family have maintained their land with sweet cottages and centuries old olive trees.  The most traditional lunch is served in an ancient finca ... a beyond magical experience that you will not soon forget.  Our host is also connected to one of the best wineries on the island, owned and run by women.  We'll taste the wine dedicated to grandma.  Back at our sanctuary, dinner is solo.  Meet your new friends in the beautiful restaurant, or perhaps it may be time for a quiet night of room service.

Total Driving Time:  1:20 hours

Weekly Market, Medieval Walls, Winter Beach...

Blissful stretch in the chapel, coffee and breakfast.  The locals have always known about the existence of a current of fresh air which came out of a hole about 15 cm in diameter, which after years of excavating, is now the entrance to the Campanet Caves.  These millions of years old caves are home to the most fascinating environment of stalactites and stalagmites.  Next we visit Alcudia, where every Tuesday one of the best weekly markets on the island is held.  Clothing, jewelry, ceramics, home goods, food, drinks ... explore and enjoy.  We will give you enough time to sightsee, walk the medieval walls, and enjoy a solo lunch.  Before heading home, we visit a beautiful beach with turquoise waters for a luxurious walk in the sand.  Back at our sanctuary, a creative vegetarian dinner made from all locally sourced products awaits.

Deborah Ives

Founder, Solo In Style

Deborah has always loved to travel and when she found herself suddenly divorced at age 50, her response was to go it alone.  It was scary, fabulous, and empowering, in equal measure, and she was instantly hooked.  As a solo female traveler over the age of 50, a huge and growing demographic, Deborah felt ignored by the travel industry.  This prompted her to create Solo In Style with the idea of connecting like-minded women through their solo travels.  Alongside a successful 30-year career in marketing, fine wine and culinary arts, Deborah, now aged 65, continues to expand Solo In Style globally to encourage and support as many women as possible to fulfill their solo travel ambitions.

Maximum Group Size
