Almond Blossoms in Mallorca...
The Serra de Tramuntana is a dramatic mountain range soaring nearly 5,000 feet (1,445 m) high, along 56 miles (90 km) of Mallorca's northwest coast. Every year, long before the snowcapped peaks mull the thaw, a blanket of almond blossoms rolls across the great plateau - the “snow of Mallorca,” as poetic locals put it. More than 5 million almond trees call the island home, and in February they become a jaw-dropping sight to behold as tiny pink and white flowers abound. A compliment to this natural spectacle are temperatures around 60 degrees (16 celsius), and a total lack of tourism.

How often is it that you go on holiday with the founder of your chosen travel tribe? The founder of Mallorca by Design, who has been a local resident for 7 years, will be joining every planned moment of this experience with you. There are unplanned moments as well, giving guests the freedom to explore solo. Laura has been hosting events and spending the shoulder seasons in Mallorca since 2010, then in 2018, she finally packed her bags and left New York City to live on an olive farm. Her focus is always on the most unique experiences ... you’re in for an unforgettable adventure. ​

This Mallorca Getaway is limited to just 10 amazing women. We have exclusive use of our very own hotel for six beautiful nights, in a local village at the foot of the Serra de Tramuntana. We then visit the city of Palma for three spectacular nights in a sea front hotel in the coveted area of La Calatrava. Everyone has their own room with private bath. Day 1, Friday - February 13 - Binibona

Arrival to Mallorca, Spa Treatments, Welcome Dinner...
Arrive to Mallorca, check in to your private accommodations, then enjoy a glass of Cava and unwind from your day of travel. This gorgeous, hand selected hotel, surrounded by breathtaking views of the Tramuntana Mountains, will serve as our exclusive home for the next six days and nights ... we are the only guests. For maximum comfort and enjoyment, each and every room has a private bath with separate shower and bathtub, a complimentary mini-bar, plush robes, and organic skin care products. The pool with balinese beds awaits, massages and other spa treatments are available, and the hot tub and sauna garden is accepting complimentary reservations. This little oasis is booked just one guest at a time ... indulge in a hot/cold therapy, and enjoy some solo time to clear your thoughts. In the evening, the Mallorquin owners of the hotel welcome you with a tour of the grounds and historic tales of the property. Dinner is served with a wine pairing, next to the medieval walls.

Day 2, Saturday - February 14 - Lloseta / Valentine's Day

Paella Cooking Class, Sustainable Fashion...
Aromatherapy stretch to reduce jetlag, coffee and breakfast. A relaxing morning is spent enjoying spa treatments and solo time at the hot tub and sauna garden. Lunch is an authentic Paella cooking class with the chef of the hotel. We then depart for the village of Lloseta ... on foot! It is a beyond beautiful 10km walk along quiet roads. Pass by thousands of blossoming almond trees, and experience the wonderful scent of Mallorca's natural environment. In Lloseta, we are introduced to RECLAIM ... a sustainable manufacturer who creates one of a kind bags from reclaimed textiles and old horse tack. As our gift to you, each guest will design their very own "Petra" bag. Our Valentine dinner is here, in this sweet little village. A taxi takes us home.

Day 3, Sunday - February 15 - Valldemossa

Olive Oil Production, Ancient History...
Blissful stretch in the chapel, coffee and breakfast. Today we focus on a tree that has thrived in Mallorca for more than 700 years ... the olive tree. The Son Moragues Estate with more than 300 hectares of oak and pine forests, dry stone terraces, orchards and centuries-old olive groves, is an agricultural powerhouse. The experience begins with a commented walk in the historical Olive Grove, which leads to Sa Balsa, an 18th century pond transformed in the 19th century into a magical retreat by the Archduke Luis Salvador of Austria. Olive oil tasting, aromatic gin tasting, and lunch ... all take place in Sa Balsa. After our visit to the trees, there is a bit of free time to walk the picturesque village of Valldemossa. Here you find ancient cobblestone streets, the Chopin Museum, numerous artist galleries, and one of the oldest bakeries on the island with a relaxing garden. After a bit of rest at our beautiful hotel, an authentic Mallorquin dinner is served.

Day 4, Monday - February 16 - Porreres

Almond Production, Lunch Under The Trees...
Blissful stretch in the chapel, coffee and breakfast. In the afternoon we head to Porreres, a village located in the center of the island. One of the largest almond farms exists here. Finally, we learn all about these tree nuts, how they are taken from the trees, how they are processed, and the many local products that are created in their honor. Guests sample almond oil, almond cake, sweet and savory snacks, and more. We meet with the owners of the farm as well as the woman who produces some of the best almonds on the island. Lunch is served under the almond trees ... a beyond magical experience that you will not soon forget. Back at our sanctuary, dinner is solo. It may be time for a quiet night of room service.

Day 5, Tuesday - February 17 - Arta / Betlem
Total Driving Time: 2:30 hours
Weekly Market, Coastal Hike...
Blissful stretch in the chapel, coffee and breakfast. Today we visit Arta, where one of the best weekly markets on the island is held every Tuesday. Clothing, jewelry, ceramics, home goods, food, drinks ... explore and enjoy. We will give you enough time to shop, as well as to visit the Santuari de Sant Salvador, originally a mosque before the Spanish conquest converted it to Christianity. The sanctuary sits at the highest point in Arta, offering spectacular views. Lunch is in Arta. Next we head to a beautiful beach with turquoise waters for a luxurious, soothing walk along the coast. Back at our sanctuary, we have a wine tasting with the sommelier, followed by a creative vegetarian dinner made from all locally sourced products.

Day 6, Wednesday - February 18 - Spa / Photo Shoot

Spa Services, Relaxation, Final Night in the Mountains...
Blissful stretch in the chapel, coffee and breakfast, followed by a hike in nature where you can choose between a gentle or long option. Today is a gift, as guests relish in the freedom to simply be still. Spa services are available all day, such as a facial, thai massage, full body ritual. Lunch is on the patio. In the late afternoon, we have a professional photographer coming to take individual photos of everyone. The environment of our hotel is the perfect backdrop. Bring clothing that you feel comfortable and joyful wearing. In the evening, our signature Solo In Style party takes place during sunset. The bar opens, as does the dance floor, then a beautiful dinner is served. The motif will be announced during our pre-travel Zoom call.

Day 7, Thursday - February 19 - The City of Palma de Mallorca

Check In, Guided Tour, Tapas Dinner...
Sleep in, coffee and breakfast ... a relaxing morning. Today we relocate to the city of Palma de Mallorca. Our boutique hotel is on the front line of the Mediterranean Sea, with the winding streets of the old town, with peaceful squares and monumental churches, located just behind us. The most stunning views are from the roof deck. Here there is an indulgent pool, lounge chairs, bar and restaurant, on multiple levels. The spa at our hotel is incredibly outstanding ... with a 14 meter long heated pool, Turkish bath, jacuzzi, sauna, ice fountain, sensation showers, and a relaxation area with lounge chairs and hammocks. Here you have everything you need for a complete thermal circuit to renew the spirit. Lunch is solo. In the late afternoon, a guide will take us on a tour of the old town to discover ancient architecture, sacred spaces, historic monuments, and a handful of places you can return to on your own, like the oldest bakery in the city. The evening ends with a delicious tapas dinner.

Day 8, Friday - February 20 - Bellver Castle

Hike To A Castle, Solo In Style Freedom to Explore...
Coffee and breakfast. A 5km morning walk along the waterfront, followed by an uphill, dirt trail, takes us to the Castell de Bellver. The translation in Catalan is "the castle with a lovely view" as this Gothic-style structure sits high atop the city of Palma with the most fantastic views of the Mediterranean Sea. Construction of Castell de Bellver began in 1300 under the rule of King Jaume II. It was intended to be a royal residence, but only two kings ever spent time here. In 1717 it became a military prison, and was used in both the Napoleonic and Spanish Civil Wars. The rest of the day is then free for you to walk the famous shopping streets, purchase a few keepsakes, and taste a few delicacies. We will give you a guide book of highlights as the hotel is just a stone’s throw away from the bustling center. Lunch and dinner are solo today, as we give you a bit of Solo In Style freedom to explore. Fancy a Spanish cooking class that takes place inside of a beautiful old windmill?
Day 9, Saturday - February 21 - Solo In Style / Celebration Dinner

Freestyle Day, Farewell Dinner Celebration...
Coffee and breakfast. The afternoon is yours to freestyle as you wish. Lunch is solo, we will suggest a few gems. Later in the day we all meet for a walk through the city, a cocktail experience in one of the best bars in Palma, a spectacular Flamenco show, and a surprise and delight farewell dinner. Tonight is a celebration of moments shared and friendships forged ... with the hope that we will all see each other again soon.

Accommodations
The journey begins in an absolutely beautiful hotel, where we are the ONLY guests. It is located at the foot of the Tramuntana Mountains, in a Spanish hamlet, surrounded by beautiful villages. Each room is entirely unique, but all have a high quality mattress with Spirit of the Nomad linens, ensuite bath with tub and separate shower, temperature control, writing desk, complimentary mini bar, bathrobes, hair dryer, make-up mirror, and organic skin care products by Natura Bissé. The hotel has a land area of ​​more than 70 hectares, offering ample space for guests to enjoy peaceful nature. The property includes a fortified medieval farmhouse known as Alquería and an ancient oil mill that produces formidable olive oil. In the courtyard stands the original chapel, now guarded by the walls of the estate, which adds a historical and cultural touch to the agrotourism experience in this unparalleled environment. Guest rooms are located in several different buildings, which are accessed via stone walkways. There is a pool, a spa, a sauna and hot tub garden for private use, and numerous spaces for both outdoor and indoor dining.
Next we check in to a stunning boutique hotel in Palma, located on the first line of the sea and adjacent to the famous Cathedral. This sought after neighborhood is La Calatrava. Here you are just steps away from the precious old town with it's peaceful squares and monumental churches, as well as the bustling city center. Our precious hotel is located in a very private and quiet area of Palma, though you may hear an occasional church bell.
As always, Solo In Style rooms are private and en-suite. We do not offer shares. The rooms are first come, first served ... the sooner you register, the more choices you have.

Laura has always been passionate about encouraging women to push their boundaries in order to become powerful. She truly believes this can only be done when you align yourself with other capable women who are willing to support one another. Courage is contagious. Laura is 57 years old, a group fitness instructor, a nationally ranked ballroom dance champion, a triathlete, an entrepreneur, and an extroverted introvert who loves new experiences. She has been published in Cosmopolitan, Competitor, Shape, Triathlete, and New York Magazine for her accomplishments in the fitness and travel industries. Her celebrity clients include Nicole Kidman, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Keith Urban and Soledad O'Brien.

All but two rooms are FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED. The earlier you book, the more options to choose from.

The Nature Suite and The Panoramic Suite
There are two Master Suites at the first hotel. If you choose either of these, a supplement of 450 euro will be added to your deposit (75 per night). They are unique in that they have a separate living room and bedroom, as well as a private terrace on the highest level of the hotel. One terrace faces the sunrise and the other faces the sunset. Both have spectacular mountain views on multiple sides.

We are truly looking forward to hosting our wonderful Solo In Style members in Mallorca! There is some important information to note before we get to the fun part. Please read our terms and conditions below, as it is your responsibility to be entirely aware of our policies and what to expect.

Physical Ability and Health Requirements
​
Our events have a great deal of walking to best explore and enjoy each location. There will be rocky dirt trails, steep hills, stone stairs and ancient cobblestones. It is entirely possible that we may walk 5+ miles per day, spending many hours on our feet. We require all guests to have a base level of fitness that allows them to do that. We will provide plenty of downtime for rest and recovery and you are welcome to skip a day. However, we ask that you be cognizant of the itinerary and all that you will experience prior to registering for our event.

If you have special health issues, mobility issues, or take medications, we ask that you advise us prior to registering for our event so that we can ensure there are no red flags and that you are a good fit for the planned itinerary. Failure to do so could result in a diminished experience as we may be unable to accommodate your needs.
Respecting Our Community

To protect the wonderful community of women who are coming together to share in this exceptional experience, we will avoid all talks of religion and politics. Additionally, tolerance will always reign supreme as we accept and respect the different cultures, opinions and lifestyle choices of others.

Application Process

Our goal is always to ensure the best possible experience for our guests. Because of this, our process is to ask you to be very sure that the itinerary is suited to your preferences. You then RSVP, fill out our application form, pay your deposit, and schedule a one-on-one call so we can get to know you better. This process is not only FUN, it is also designed to ensure that every guest has a spectacular experience.

Weather in Mallorca in February
​
Although February is technically winter, temperatures are most comfortable ... not hot, not cold, just right. Temperatures average around 60 degrees fahrenheit during the day (16 celcius), and 50 fahrenheit in the evenings (10 celcius). February is also when nature is in bloom! Most notably, the almond blossoms.
​

Eligible to Attend
​
This trip is exclusively for Solo in Style members ... women 50+ years of age with a brilliant outlook on life, who love to travel and want to meet like-minded as well as diverse women.

Pack List
​
A pack list will be sent to every guest prior to travel. Casual clothing throughout, comfortable walking footwear, swimwear for the pool and spa, and workout gear (if participating). The pack list will be much more detailed.
​
Room Selection
​
All rooms are private with private bathroom, for maximum comfort and a bit of solo time. They are each uniquely beautiful in layout and decor ... reserved on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED basis. The earlier you reserve your spot and pay your deposit, the more choices you’ll have.
​
Room Sharing
​
Solo In Style is exactly that ... your room is just for you. All rooms are solo occupancy with private bathrooms. Some are on the ground floor, some are on the top floor, some have balconies, etc. Rooms are reserved on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED basis, based on when your deposit was received.
​
Mandatory Travel Insurance
​
Solo in Style requires each guest to purchase full personal travel insurance for the duration of the trip. It's the safest and best way to travel. We will ask for proof of insurance prior to the event and reserve the right to deny any participant who has not obtained this. Any fees paid towards the event will be non-refundable.
​
Dietary Requirements
​
Most requirements are possible, although pure vegan and gluten free may be limited. When booking restaurants, we will be sure to give them a heads up with regard to your preferences. Please discuss this with us prior to registering for the event.
​
Photos and Videos
​
One of the most fun aspects of any travel event is the photos and videos taken. We provide a shared folder where everyone can drop and download media. We will also share our best footage. Guests are welcome to post these images on social media. You may not sell or otherwise use any of the images taken by us or our photographers and videographers or other guests for commercial purposes. When registering for our event you agree and acknowledge that your image and likeness may be used in future promotional material, by both Solo In Style, and our partner companies. We only use the "good ones" where everyone looks great! If you prefer not to be photographed or to appear in any videos, please let us know ahead of time.

Waiver
​
Please be prepared to sign a ‘Waiver of Responsibility’ form before you begin your tour. This form is an understanding that all guests need to exercise judgement and care at all times to ensure their own safety and that of their fellow travelers.
​
Airport Transfers
​
Upon arrival to Mallorca it is quick and easy and inexpensive to grab a taxi. You'll be on your way to the hotel within minutes of exiting the airport. Prior to travel, we will all share flight details so that perhaps you can ride with a fellow guest. Your taxi back to the airport will be scheduled for you. These rides are approximately 30-45 minutes each and the total cost is around 100-120 euros round trip ... you may pay via credit card or euro.

Alcohol and Other Substances
​
Spain is known for its wine and gin. If you plan to drink, we ask you to do so responsibly. The idea is to enjoy, but not to become inebriated. Drugs and illegal substances will never be tolerated.
​
Force Majeure
​
In case of a Force Majeure event, we are not responsible for performing our obligations and will not be responsible for any resulting damages. A Force Majeure Event is any circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including without limitation acts of nature, terrorist activities, insurrection, explosion, flood, earthquake, tempest, forceful wind, fire or accident, war or threat of war declared or undeclared, sabotage, civil disturbance, labor strikes, requisition, pandemics, sickness, quarantine, government intervention, weather conditions, and unforeseen circumstances. If we, and/or our partners or agents, are affected by a Force Majeure Event, we, and/or our partners or agents, may vary or cancel any itinerary or activity without any obligation or liability.

RSVP, fill out the application, pay your deposit, then schedule a private Zoom chat so that we can get to know you, and so that we can strive to meet and exceed your expectations in Mallorca. After that, we invite everyone to a Zoom meet and greet. This event is about travel, but we also want to share our stories and forge new friendships with like-minded women.
